Vultures Help to Keep Surroundings Clean of Disease-Ridden Dead Animals


Several Turkey Vultures most likely discussing their next “Road Kill Deluxe”, while stealing a bit of leisure time on a row of Boxley Valley hay bales (Newton County, Arkansas).

The birds don’t look that big, until you consider the size of the bales beneath them. These buzzards can have a wingspan of up to six feet, while weighing only two to five pounds.

Even though they’re most famous for their disgusting eating habits, vultures are actually quite beneficial, as they help control diseases by eating dead animals and keeping our surroundings much cleaner.
