The National Weather Service has increased the chance of severe weather in the west part of the Arkansas River Valley to “moderate”. Chance of rain will be slight (20%) until 7:00pm tonight in the Fort Smith area, then increase to a 70% chance by 10:00pm. Chance of showers and thunderstorms will then be 90% overnight, 80% Tuesday, then 50% for Tuesday night, according to the weather service.
A “moderate” risk of severe weather will be mostly in the west and northwest portion of the valley, while the remainder will still hold a slight chance of severe storms. Those in the region are urged to be aware of current weather conditions. ArkansasRiverValley.com’s Facebook page will post any severe storm warnings as soon as they are issued.
