Thunderstorms today and Sunday will be only spotty in nature. Although an isolated severe storm cannot be totally ruled out, the overall risk of severe weather is low.
The next cold front is likely to bring numerous showers and thunderstorms to Arkansas early next week. This will probably begin Monday afternoon in the west and progress to most sections of the state Monday evening and overnight, continuing in eastern Arkansas into Tuesday. Some rain will probably linger in the state even after the threat of thunderstorms ends.
I do expect that we will see at least a few severe thunderstorms as the front makes its way through the state. Heavy rain will occur as well. At this point, it appears that 1 to 3 inch amounts will be common, and there could easily be some 4 to 5 inch totals, especially in the western part of the state.
