Authorities Following Up on Possible Sighting of Prison Escapee Tim Buffington – (UPDATE: Buffington Captured!)

Logan County authorities say they and other local agencies are currently actively following up on a possible sighting of Arkansas Department of Corrections escapee Tim Buffington.

Officers, this morning, were currently searching an area west of Booneville on State Highway 10 just east of the Logan/Sebastian County Line. Police say a witness reported seeing Buffington in that area wearing a red flannel shirt with ripped sleeves, a gray t-shirt, dark pants, and either wearing or carrying a head lamp.

No weapons were seen, but Buffinton should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone seeing Buffington should immediately contact their local law enforcement agency or call 9-1-1.

Tim Buffington escaped from the Arkansas Department of Corrections in Pine Bluff on June 21, 2014. Buffington had been sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections for 20 years for First Degree Murder for the shooting death of Rhonda Combs in Logan County in 1998.

Arkansas State Police have closed State Highway 10 in Sebastian County due to search of escaped ADC inmate Timothy Buffington. Traffic is been rerouted through Highway 60. Authorities treating recent sighting of Buffington as credible.

ADC Escapee Timothy Buffington has been taken into custody by authorities in Logan County. More details to follow.
